A selection of photos taken in the Canyon:

E. Laurel Creek Trail

If you enter the Canyon at the end of San Juan Blvd. (see maps), you will find yourself on this trail, which on paper is an extension of East Laurel Creek Rd. The sheltering trees invite you into a world apart from the traffic and noise that you left behind on Ralston Ave.

The Canyon and Sugarloaf

A view looking across the Canyon to Sugarloaf, which is part of San Mateo's open space. Beyond that lies the City of San Mateo, San Francisco Bay, and the East Bay. On most clear days you can see Mount Diablo approximately forty miles away.

Another View of Sugarloaf

taken from the Canyon floor.

Deer are a common sight in the Canyon.

Other mammals include coyote, ground squirrels, and bobcats. Some years ago warnings of mountain lions were posted, but we have not been able to confirm any sightings.

Laurel Creek Flows through the Canyon

and in fact it has sometimes been called “Laurel Creek Canyon.”
